  • RB: DLC 11/17/09 – Them Crooked Vultures, AFI, The Bangles

Next Tuesday’s Rock Band DLC was announced on Friday, and as the band themselves leaked weeks earlier, AFI is the headliner this time with tracks from The Bangles and Them Crooked Vultures, both are new bands to the Rock Band platform.

    • AFI – Love Like Winter
    • AFI – The Leaving Song Pt. II
    • AFI – Beautiful Thieves
    • AFI – End Transmission
    • AFI – Medicate
    • The Bangles – Walk Like an Egyptian
    • Them Crooked Vultures – New Fang

AFI first appeared on the Rock Band 2 disc last year, and then on Rock Band Unplugged and later DLC with a follow up track.  Tuesday will present a more intensive tribute to the band with their first 5-pack of songs.  The Bangles are one of the most recognized 80’s bands, and the song “Walk Like an Egyptian” is a great party song that everyone should recognize and feel good with.

Let’s not forget the cardinal rule of Rock Band DLC this holiday season, “There Is No DLC without Dave Grohl!”  Them Crooked Vultures is another new supergroup consisting of two Rock Band Veterans and an old school legend.  Josh Homme (Queens of the Stoneage – I predicted more QOTS weeks ago), Dave “the beast” Grohl (Foo Fighters) and none other than John Paul Jones. We are now one step closer to Led Zeppelin in Rock Band 3, but here’s hoping its not Stairway.  Their album is in stores on the same date, and its always good to see both same-day DLC and store release, and material from new bands added to Rock Band.

The tracks will be available in the usual places starting on Tuesday, 160 pts each.  This puts the unofficial song count at 972 tracks: 28 songs until 1000, 6 more ‘release dates’ left in 2009, so we can reasonably expect 4-5 songs a week for the rest of the year.

What do you think the 1000th song will be?  I’m getting a bit tired of Dave Grohl, as I’m sure he must be getting tired of being in so many bands.  I’m sure we’ll see him again real soon!    The song will have to be from either Killing Joke, Prodigy, Tenacious D, Nine Inch Nails, Scream, Probot, Queens of the Stoneage, Them Crooked Vultures, Foo Fighters or Nirvana.  Dave can’t be in every band you know.

    • After realizing I have over 200 RB and GH songs that I have yet to play on on drums, not too mention thousands of achievements still to pick up, I’m on a DLC hiatus. Unless, some must have DLC shows up, like Pantera, Guns N’ Roses, Led Zeppelin, My Chemical Romance, Linkin Park, Dream Theater, Dave Matthews, Limp Bizkit, Rage Against The Machine, or 311.

This week, there’s no must haves for me.

Now, time for me to get back playing Lego Rock Band, Beatles Rock Band, Guitar Hero 5, Guitar Hero: Van Halen, and of course all my RB DLC.

    • I know the feeling, there is just way too much to play right now. I finally picked up Borderlands on Friday for the first time, Left4Dead 2 is out tonight, on top of all the great music DLC that’s coming out. I haven’t even written about the new Beatles DLC yet. That’s how it always goes, so many good games to play and not enough time to do it.

    • If all goes as planned, I will finally be moving this weekend. It’s been 5 months living with the in-laws, while finishing up the purchase on the new house. I’ll be so glad to get my drums set up again.

I’m just worried, because I’ll be setting up the Wii too, once we get in. That will immediately require a purchase of New SMB.Wii, Wii Sports Resort, and Wii Fit Plus.

Also, I’m not much of a player of shooters….but I’m drooling at the commercials and reviews of Modern Warfare 2.

    • Congratulations on closing your new house! That’s so cool.
