5 Days Until Guitar Hero 5. Excited?
7 CommentsSeptember 1 is coming up fast. That’s the day Activision releases the next addition to the Guitar Hero franchise. This time around, it’s less of a “let’s charge $60 for new songs and last years game technology”, and more pushing the boundaries of what rhythm games can do.
So, have you pre-ordered the game? Are you planning on picking it up next week? What are you excited for?
Some of the new features of GH5, include:
- Software compatible with Guitar Hero World Tour peripherals.
- In the all-new Party Play mode, players can now jump in or drop out of gameplay seamlessly, without interrupting their jam session.
- Play with any in-game instrument combination in any game mode – multiple vocalists, guitarists, bassists and drummers.
- Features new in-game artists and rock legends, including Johnny Cash, Carlos Santana and Shirley Mason from Garbage.
- The entire 85 song set list is available from the beginning of the game.
I’m most excited about the Party Play mode. It’s not something that a hard core player would be focused on, but when you have a get together, and casual players (or non-gamers) show up, the new mode should make for some fun playing.
Don’t forget, Amazon still has the amazing deal, that includes GH5, GH: Van Halen, $10 in MP3s, $10 off your next game, and FREE shipping…all for $59.99 ($49.99 on PS2)

I’m very excited about GH5. I’ve always “liked” the guitar hero series but it lacked something. I think the new features will make it a game with a lot of replayability and definately one to remember.

You are right on the money about Party Play. This will let everyone join in, if only for a few minutes, even half a song. Players that have a hard time, phone rings, bathroom break, need another beer, smokers, etc… can just drop out, and everyone else (i.e ME) keeps playing, with less interruption. Causing the rest of the band to suffer a fail can be quite embarrassing for new players.
I don’t have my copy yet – will probably pick up both GH5 and B:RB on the 9th. Turns out the deal with GH Van Halen was only for USA residents.

I ordered my copy with free shipping. So its supposed to arrive on Tuesday. TB:RB comes out on Wednesday, and I am bringing my gear to work for a party celebrating both games. My first play of both, will be in front of coworkers.

Sounds like I work in a pretty dull office by comparison. Out of curiosity, would you describe the gear you are bringing? I had pictured you playing on some pretty high end stuff, not the kind that would be easily transported.

[...] The Beatles: Rock Band instead, then I’m afraid that this demo is a poor representation of all of the features available in Guitar Hero 5. I know we don’t write much about this series, but there is no denying that Guitar Hero 5 [...]

[...] that no Rock Band 3 came out in 2009, but I’m sure it will be stellar when it does. Guitar Hero 5: This is possibly the best party music game of the year. With drop in/drop out play, it’s [...]
