  • AC/DC Live: Rock Band Track Pack less than $30

Posted on June 11th, 2009 Shawn No comments

Good news for Rock Band and AC/DC fans (of course good news if you haven’t already picked up the Rock Band Track Pack). Both Walmart and Sam’s Club (disclaimer: actually, they are the same company) have the AC/DC Live: Rock Band Track Pack for Xbox 360 at less then $30. (Sorry, all other systems you are still paying full retail.) Walmart: $29.92 and Sam’s Club: $29.77. That’s about $1.66 per song.

I have not bought this track pack for a few reasons. Primarily, it is because the original retail price of $40 made the cost per track too expensive to me. At the new pricing, it’s very reasonable, in my opinion. I’m an AC/DC fan, and this will be a great addition to Rock Band 2.

If you aren’t aware, the Track Pack is a standalone game based on the Rock Band 1 game engine. It has its own set of achievements, and all songs can be imported into Rock Band 1 & 2…but ONLY ONE TIME! WARNING: Don’t ever buy this game used, or you will not be able to import the tracks into other Rock Band games.

I’m in the process of moving, so I won’t get to playing it anytime soon.  Though, I do think I will be making a trip to Wal-mart this week.

    Shooter Jennings
    Coheed and Cambria
    Ben Harper
    The Cranberries
    The Zombies
    The Replacements

This station contains artists from the ever growing collection of Rock Band downloadable content (DLC). As of 6/10/2009 every available song on Slacker is “hearted” in the station. I have banned all unrelated artists and songs. You will find very few non Rock Band DLC tracks in this station. As of today, 478 songs from the DLC collection have been hearted. (No SpongeBob)
    Enjoy, Rock On!

  • Holy Crap! Music Gaming Overload

I’m going to keep this post short, as the number of Amazon pre-order ads speaks for itself. WTF?!

And the new stuff that’s already available:

  • Brutal Legend, a change for rock gamers

Posted on June 9th, 2009 Shawn No comments

Alright metal head gamers, we got out hands on a trailer for Brutal Legend. Are you ready for a music game very different from colored notes coming down the note highway? Are you looking for some traditional game play using a game controller, but still containing your favorite music and “Rock Gods”?
If yes, check out the trailer for Brutal Legend. BTW, there’s an F-bomb dropped towards the end. You’ve been warned.

  • Billy Joe, “We’re doing a whole Green Day Rockband”

Posted on June 8th, 2009 Shawn 4 comments

There is now audio on the web, thanks to Green Day was in studio and asked about Rock Band. (Listen to part 5, around the 6:45 mark). You’ll hear “Soon…this year soon.”

To make it more interesting, moderators on the Rock Band forums, have shut down a post about this rumor. Hmm, it’s starting to look a bit more legit.

I’m confident that with the previous rumor news and this interview, we will definitely see Green Day on Rock Band before the end of the year. Will it be a full blown Green Day game? Will it be a track pack? Will it be DLC? Dunno. With the rumors of more than a dozen Green Day songs, and Guitar Hero’s success (yes, I said Guitar Hero) selling at retail, I will make a prediction right here and now.

There will be a Green Day track pack sold at retail outlets (possibly Wal-Mart exclusive) of approximately 18 Green Day songs from across their catalog. It will cost $39.99, and be available for all current generation systems (including PS2). It will be playable standalone, with Xbox Live achievements, and run on the Rock Band 2 engine. There will not be Green Day characters in the game, as it will use the standard Rock Band characters. All songs will be importable into Rock Band 1 and 2. Final piece of the prediction, I will be pre-ordering it from whatever retailer gets the exclusive on it.
