Ugh. Sorry to hear about the lack of sleep from coughing. That's the worst.

HMXsean's clarification of the actual quote from Arstechnica makes a lot of sense. Even Ralph Wiggums could tell that hitting 5,000 songs this year was "unpossible!"

As for GH:WT, it makes an okay rental. Not much more than that, though, imho. Vocals on it is indeed ****ing ridiculous.

Sorry...can't play tonight (and didn't see this until just now). Late night at work for me.

Abrt,

2 young kids + awake coughing all night 4 nights in a row = Shawn's bad math.

Good catch, I just updated the post. Plus, a new post is about the drop. HMX clarified things last night. It was a misquote.

I'm glad you disagree about the GHWT DLC. I love Rock Band and I love the soundtrack too. Though, I keep seeing (not every week, but enough to comment) GHWT DLC that makes me want to get it. Fortunately, enough GHWT players have complained about two major issues with GHWT. Drum charting unrealistic and vocals extremely difficult. Those are the two reasons I play these games to begin with. For now, my unopened copy of GHWT is for sale on my works classified board...with no takers.

Are you down for some playing tonight? I need to break in my new drum kit.

>MTV execs have been quoted by Billboard and GameDaily that the Rock Band series
>will have 5,000 songs playable for the game within the 2009 calendar year.
>Holy headlines Batman! We are getting closer to the 1,000 mark every week,
>but how are they planning to pull of the miricale of pulling off about 50 songs a month?

50 a month? Check your math. 50/month is only 600 per year. Hell, even 50 per WEEK wouldn't get them to 5000 by the end of 2009. [50x52=2600 + 500 (current) = 3,100 songs]

I think the MTV execs may be on crack. Using your count of 559 songs "currently" available, they'd have to crank out over NINETY songs per week from now until New Year's Eve to hit 5,000. I'll believe that when I see it. That's just crazy talk.

>Guitar Hero World Tour…I have to admit it, is kicking Rock Band’s ass in
>downloadable music lately. And the ass-kicking continues this coming month.
>Incubus, Bob Seger, and more. If I owned GHWT :-) I’d be picking up a few of
>these tracks immediately.

Have to disagree with you on this one. It's just a matter of opinion, of course, but none of those tracks really excites me. I'd "consider" a few of them, but that's hardly an ass-kicking, imho...whereas the wife and I have been buying quite a bit of RB DLC lately. And at 3 songs per week for GH:WT versus Rock Band's average of almost 7/week for January, with personal preference aside you have over twice the chance of getting a song you like on Rock Band. Oh, and I *have* GH:WT, and I haven't even put the disc into my 360 over the past few months, let alone download any of their DLC tracks. It's just a vastly inferior game, in my opinion. Activision is gonna hafta step up their game if they wanna compete.
