Posted on November 13th, 2008 Shawn No comments

We are in the calm before the Storm, but things are a brewing.

Most importantly is the news that came in overnight.  Verizon has come out and stated the price will be $199 with 2-year contract.  We already knew that, but here’s the better news…

…the confirmed date for online and store sales is Friday November 21.

Get ready world, this phone is going to take you by….er, Storm.  I just plan on taking that day off of work.  Looks like this obsessed guy will be waiting in line at a Verizon store for a Storm.

For you haters out there, here’s the official press release:

BASKING RIDGE, N.J. – The BlackBerry® Storm™ (model 9530) from Research In Motion (NASDAQ: RIMM) – the first touch screen BlackBerry smartphone with the world’s first “clickable” touch screen – will be available beginning Nov. 21 in Verizon Wireless Communications Stores and online at for $199.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate with a new two-year customer agreement.  For additional details and specifications about the BlackBerry Storm, please visit

    • Wow…you’re day is approaching….congrats….

So what are you looking forward to most? Clickable touch screen, tethering, 3.2 MP, video recording, wi-f….oh…sorry 🙂

I’m very curious to see how this phone turns out and want to get one in my hands. Seems like the ‘clickable’ is gonna be love/hate…

    • Alright iPhone man. Things I’m really excited for:
Screen resolution, now that I have seen the Bold. It’s gonna be amazing.
A2DP, can’t live without my wireless stereo headsets….take that iPhone.
Tethering. That will be sweet for work trips and well worth the $29.99 for the BB data plan.
3.2 MP, what can I say? That’s the same as my current (old school) digital cam. So, yes I’m psyched for that…and I think there will be a flash too. Is there a flash on the iPhone?
You know what? I’ve had video recording, tethering, and A2DP for 4 years on the Treo…so they are all old news to me. Oh, cut-n-paste too. The iPhone has all that, right?

Click touch-screen…coming from a QWERTY keyboard with touch-screen, I’m not sure how I’m going to react to this new clickable touchscreen only world. We’ll see.

I can’t wait for the iPhone vs. Storm battle royale!
