Thank You Readers!
Posted on November 14th, 2008 No commentsI posted an article on August 18, thanking you, the readers for visiting My Gadget, Game & Gizmo Obsession and bringing 550 unique visitors with over 1,900 pages viewed in one month. Those statistics make me work harder to bring you interesting things to read about. That was entry #385. Today, we are at entry #1703.
Now, less than three months later, I look at the site’s statistics again, and WOW! In the past month we have seen over 3,500 unique visitors with over 6,100 pages viewed. We are seeing people from all over the world now tuning to My Obsessions (at mygggo.com), and I have to say, thank you.
The comments have also started to pick up too. Please feel free to leave more comments. We love when comments come in and we can have a dialog with the readers. If you are really daring, feel free to register for an account and write up your own obsessions. Now, that would be fun too.
Over the past month, I have been working with several companies (Amazon, Google, Best Buy, and others) to build an extensive store that relates only to the things we talk about here. If the store takes off, that will be great…I’m more just hoping to give you an easy way to buy the things that we like to buy. Every time you look at and/or purchase from our store, it helps us make this site better for us all. Please look around at the items and buy from us if you see something you want.
Thanks again and keep coming back.

Next Week in My Obsessions
Posted on November 14th, 2008 No comments
This is quite a month, and difficult to focus on things outside of my obsessive world. Between BlackBerry, Xbox 360, Rock Band, and GNR…there is so much that has already gone down this month, and it’s not over yet. Since (due to work schedules) I may be a little light on posts next week, let me point out some of the biggies that are expected to drop between now and next Friday.- November 18 – As always, the weekly Rock Band DLC will be out. We haven’t heard the official list yet, but should within the next couple hours.
- November 19 – Microsoft will officially release the New Xbox Experience upon the masses (i.e. 14 million Xbox Live subscribers). This will give a beautiful update the Xbox 360 dashboard, bring on cool avatars, lot’s of social activities, and the biggie….Netflix streaming capabilities.
- November 21 – Research In Motion & Verizon Wireless will release the most discussed BlackBerry of the year, the BlackBerry Storm. This is the first BlackBerry with full touchscreen and amazing media capabilities. It’s going to give AT&T and the iPhone some serious competition.
- November 23 – Best Buy will exclusively release the highly anticipated Guns N’ Roses album Chinese Democracy, which is 15 years in the making. I’ve seen that soon iTunes will also pick it up. Hopefully, we will have it in our MP3 store soon.
Really, it’s going to be a crazy week of new stuff. Of course, the obessions don’t end there. We will be using, abusing, and reviewing everything once we get our hands on it all.
On the unofficial list, here are some other things coming up.
- I will officially put the nail in the coffin “My Treo Obsession”. This was the original title of this blog, and my whole reason for starting this thing up a couple years ago. You can expect a big article in the next week or two, where I will officially retire both the Treo 650 and 700p, and hand them over to my children to destroy use as toys.
- I will be modifying my new (to me) Roland electronic drum kit to work with my Xbox 360 and Rock Band 2. This will be fun, and the parts are on their way to my house. Of course, I need to buy and learn how to use a soldering iron. That’s a scary thought.

BlackBerry Storm with WiFi, Already Exists!
Posted on November 13th, 2008 No comments
I am currently listening to this weeks CrackBerry.com Podcast (Episode 024). Twenty-six minutes into the cast, Craig cracks on the Storm’s lack of WiFi and insinuates that it’s a typical Verizon play to “castrate” the phone. Then, the bomb is dropped (or should I say accidentally leaked) by Kevin stating that he has seen with his own eyes, people using Storm’s with WiFi.Then, they don’t mention it again, and continue on with the podcast. As if they hadn’t made an obvious revelation.
So what we have learned, there is already a next generation Storm in the wild with WiFi. Here are my thoughts on this. The Verizon Storm is both CDMA and GSM (quad band). I’m betting that with all the radio’s on-board there really is a technical limitation on the Storm’s motherboard. My hunch is that there will be a GSM only version coming for the likes of AT&T, Rogers, and T-Mobile, which has extra space on the board to cram in some WiFi.
From the sounds of it, this device already exists. Our friend at CrackBerry, say he has seen it.

A Virtual Lollapalooza of Obsessions
Posted on November 12th, 2008 No comments
There are so many of our obsessions all culminating at the same time, it’s hard to think straight. I dreamed about the Storm last night (sad I know).- COMING VERY SOON:
- November 19 – Microsoft will officially release the New Xbox Experience upon the masses (i.e. 14 million Xbox Live subscribers). This will give a beautiful update the Xbox 360 dashboard, bring on cool avatars, lot’s of social activites, and the biggie….Netflix streaming capabilities.

- November 24 – Research In Motion & Verizon Wireless will release the most discussed BlackBerry of the year, the BlackBerry Storm. This is the first BlackBerry with full touchscreen and amazing media capabilities. It’s going to give AT&T and the iPhone some serious competition.
- JUST PASSED:
- November 4 – Research In Motion & AT&T released the BlackBerry Bold. Although it was released several months late, it’s by far the nicest BlackBerry to date…soon to be overshadowed by the Storm.
- November 6 – Rock Band 2 Bonus DLC was released with little fanfare since it comtained mostly unknown artists and unknown songs. But, heck, 20 free songs is 20 free songs.

Ummm….look it’s Verizon’s pricing for the BlackBerry Storm
Posted on November 11th, 2008 No commentsThis was spotted on a Verizon test server. (Thanks Engadget). It’s not listed on the public Verizon site yet. $219.99 with 2-year contract. Not quite the $199 we previously heard, but close enough. I hope the business pricing stays at $89.99.
Though, for the Verizon New Every 2 Program…$119 is a darn good price. Even if my employer poo-poo’s the Storm for business purchase, I could see myself picking this up as a personal device at this price.
