Rock Revolution released already!
Posted on October 16th, 2008 No comments
Wow, talk about zero fanfare. Even me, the guy obsessed with Rock Band, and potentially obsessed about the upcoming Guitar Hero World Tour missed the fact the Konami’s Rock Revolution was released yesterday (Oct 16). I just stumbled on the release date while perusing RockGamer. If you don’t know what Rock Revolution is, you should. Konami was the inverter of the Rhythm Game genre years ago. They made arcade style guitar and drumming games…but then stupidly, never made an effort to take the games out of Japanese arcades. Then (four years ago), up popped Guitar Hero by Harmonix…and the rest is history. Harmonix owns the console market (with Activision cleaning up too), and Konami is (to steal a phrase from X3F) “10 years late to its own party”.
I don’t want to suede you either way, but I am extremely curious. Are you planning to buy (have you already bought) Rock Revolution? If not, will you rent it and try it out on your RB or GH equipment?
If you get your hands on a copy, please write a review post (or comment) on my blog. I don’t have a game rental subscription, and don’t see myself picking up a forth game for singing and drumming. I can’t afford much more.

Even though some of the covers I heard don’t sound too bad, overall I rather have the master recordings (Rock Band has spoiled me)

Strictly a rental. It’s at the top of my Gamefly list, so we’ll see if I get it. I am curious to hear how it uses the Rock Band drums in the game since the RR drum controller has 3 extra pads and all. Otherwise, cover songs and a much weaker interface mean I’ll probably play through it once and never think about it again…
