Punch Out to make a comeback on Wii
Posted on October 2nd, 2008 No commentsI know that I barely talk about the Wii here (primarily because my gaming world seems to revolve about Rock Band 2 on Xbox 360 these days), but I just heard some news over at Joystiq that Nintendo is bringing the Punch Out franchise back on the Wii.
Now, I grew up with the arcade version of Punch Out and the better known NES version with the infamous Mike Tyson’s Punch Out (renamed Punch Out featuring the Dynamite Kid, thanks to Iron Mike’s insanity…you know, rape, ear biting, typical every day stuff). Possibly one of my favorite games as a kid. What was the code to unlock Tyson? Let’s see if I remember: up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, b, a, b, a. Maybe that was the Contra code for unlimited lives…hey, it’s been a while, cut me some slack.
I’m pretty excited about this. NOTE: To date I have only purchased one game for the Wii, Wii Fit….with no plans on ever buying anything else. But, you know what? I might just be conceding and ready to check out the new Punch Out. How about you?
Here’s the Joystiq article, if you want to read on.
At a press conference in Japan, Nintendo announced that a new Punch-Out!! game will be coming to the Wii. No other related news is currently available, but we’re guessing it’ll share some similarities with the boxing stage from Wii Fit. Update: Check out videos right here, where Punch-Out!! is shown as a 2009 release.

Oh wow…this is great…I would definitely give PunchOut a look. I used to love that game.
On a separate note, yes, that was the Contra code…I dont remember the Tyson code on the NES.

Do you know anything about sharing Mii’s from my Wii to yours? I never done this before.
You can share Miis with all your friends using WiiConnect24. Just team up and follow these simple steps…
1. Enter each other’s Friend Code into your Wiis.
2. Make sure your Wii consoles are using WiiConnect24.
3. Select ‘Wii Friend’ from the Mii Plaza menu.
4. Drag a Mii into the envelope and select the friend you want to send it to.
5. Get mingling!
