    I am AN-I-MAL!!!

Two nights ago, I beat Run to the Hills on drums expert…three stars, but I’ll take it.  It was all about:

    1) Repositioning my seat to sit right over the red pad;
    2) Extremely fast and accurate hi-hat/snare combos…it may have been 1/32 notes for you drummer types out there
    3) Constant bass notes, I believe they were 1/8 notes through the entire song (except for a couple 1/16 notes scattered in).

Once the rhythm was down, I needed to manage my overdrive to stay alive to the end.  My new BFF, overdrive, definitely came through when needed.  I believe I was flashing red at the final note into the big ending.  Yes, I nailed the big ending too.  Sweating something fierce, I knew that I needed to break…so hopped on the vocals to do some online jamming with some friends (BigMaki, CRACKODOOM420, and dj wazzy). Thanks for the tips and encouragement guys. (What do you think, do we have a RB2 band ready to take on the masses? We’ll need a name.)

Last night, after some Q.T. with my wife, and a little Wii Sports, I headed to the dungeon to attempt to finish off Won’t Get Fooled Again. Surprisingly, I 3-starred it on my first attempt of the night. Sure it was ugly, but proper overdrive management and BAM…my drummer grabbed the mallet and banged the Zildjian gong. AN-I-MAL!!! achievement unlocked!

So, I have hit my official goal before RB2 drops on September 14. Though, I still could try to do some Score Dual or Tug of War achievements, if I have time. Plus, I’m half way through tier 8 on the Expert vocal solo tour. Maybe I should just finish that. What do you think?
Have you hit your goals yet before RB2 drops, or are you still trying to get one more achievement completed?

  • The million fan mark has been hit. I somehow convinced the wife to play for an hour and a half and we went through and completed every 3-5 song set in the arenas we could find. Only got 4 stars on 3 songs the whole night and the rest 5′s so I felt pretty good about our performances.

Highlight of the night was definitely the finale. The songs we finished with were actually not my favorite, but the circumstances were awesome. We started at 827,000 fans and at our clip, each 3-5 song set drew between 36,000-40,000 fans. Most of the sets were fun, but we look down and it’s 11:30 p.m. The wife’ss wanting to go to bed at this point and I need a miracle because we’re at 952,000. I convince her to end on the last 3 song set we have (which was a lame list) and figured we’d pick up the last couple thousand the next night. Well ‘lo and behold, we get the charity gig and the option of doubling the fans. Score! The setlist was Dead on Arrival, Electric Version, and Detroit Rock City. Weak way to end, but I’m not gonna lie, I was pumped to get the achievement. In a perfect world, I’d end with a Coheed or Boston finale.

This might have officially retired RB1 for us though. Now that we passed 1 million, all instruments have to be on expert to gain any fans and I just don’t see the misses wanting to commit to all that with RB2 on the way.

Looks like I’m now playing the waiting game…

  • I cleared out a couple more cities (Moscow and Boston) in Band World Tour with my friends tonight. Cities have become my main goal since I can’t seem to beat Foreplay/Long Time and/or Don’t Fear the Reaper on drums… Frustrating. I might be dedicating an afternoon to beating Expert Endless Setlist with my top-250 vocalist friend and me on bass… Seems like it would be the easiest (and least fatiguing!) way to get it. Also I think that with the new lowered gold star levels I might be going back and playing a bunch of songs I know I’m super-close to gold on, which puts me a little further away. I’ll need to use your achievement as motivation to push through those stupid songs!

I’d recommend doing Expert Vox if you’re that close. If I can beat the expert vox tour anybody can do it! Score Duels & ToW are also quite easy, especially if you drop down to hard level. The only tricky part is getting 5 wins in a row since you inevitably run into somebody who is going to not miss a single note. Remember to save your overdrive dor sections with more notes! Ok, I’ve typed enough here…

  • So I just saw this from one of the Google ads on the side of the blog…

    http://www.valuepedal.com/?gclid=CMacxLnnzJUCFQJHxwodfxNlig

Is this an option for you legit drummers out there?

  • Looks pretty legit. It’s an actual pedal that you’d see on an acoustic drum set. Here’s something that I’d like to see modded for RB (it’s a double-bass pedal) and it is what I have on my acoustic set. http://www.guitarcenter.com/item/expandedimage.aspx?t=4&img=DW/255702jpg.jpg

But, as of now, all signs are pointing to me building a Roland e-drum kit and modding it for RB. http://www.drumkitsdirect.co.uk/images/RolandTD9KX.jpg
My wife’s going to kill me.
