  • Rock Band DLC This Week

Ok, this week’s Xbox Live downloads are available. 3 songs by Avenged Sevenfold, 1 by The Offspring, and 1 by Crooked X. They are all fairly new songs, so none are immediately recognizable. At $2 a pop, I’m somewhat picky at how I spend my money.

After listening to Avenged Sevenfold “Afterlife” on Slacker Radio, I decided that 1) it’s a really good song; 2) it will be a challenging drum song on expert; 3) the guitar will be very tough in the solos and; 4) might be fun to sing. $2 spent. I was able to get through drums on expert first time, but I did redline 3 times. Still have some practice to perfect it. Guitar on hard…..I failed, but I will be the first to admit….I’m terrible on guitar.

I also downloaded an old song, Blink-182 “All the Small Things”. I haven’t played it yet, but think I should do fine. It was a song that I used to jam with SAYD a lot (Pabel should know this). So, if I can’t pull off expert, I should retire.

That’s all I bought this week, though may go back and get the other Avenged Sevenfold songs.

I hear from my friend (Rob, that’s you), that the Disturbed songs released on June 3 are very good and very tough on guitar. I’m thinking about picking them up, since they are a bargain at only $1 per song. Rob, do you have a favorite, or should I get all 3?

Other than DLC, I’m still practicing Foreplay/Long Time and all the Boston DLC when I can, on drums expert. There are still a handful of songs (Rush, Police) that I struggle on expert and haven’t spent much time on.

Some things I’d love to see in the future is Pantera, Dream Theater, and Linkin Park….none have been mentioned yet, but would buy up anything from those guys.

That’s it for now, see you online.

    • Welcome back to gaming Mr. Valle. We’ve come a long way from Afro Thunder on the DreamCast boxing game.

I’ll have to check out the Avenged song you recommend. Also, in the future, could you please refrain from posting the song prices….I’ve got this convenient little disconnect in my mind about how I’m only spending Microsoft points and nothing else which helps me not think about the money I’ve spent for additional songs in a video game. That’s even hard to type, much less fully grasp and process….

If I may, here’s some of my additions to the DLC request list….you may commence with the laughter and mocking of my limited rock knowledge…

      – Green Day (songs from Dookie)
      – Less Than Jake (songs from Hello Rockview)
      – Blink (Dammit)
      – Weezer (Hash Pipe, My Name is Jonas)
      – Nirvana (Teen Spirit, Come as you are) – btw, I’m really tired of TBD being associated with this Nirvana album..it was like one of the first albums they announced before the game was even released

I’d also like to see these songs from Guitar Hero II and III brought in somehow through licensing magic…

      – Charlie Daniels Band (Devil Went Down to Georgia
      – Rage Against The Machine (Killin in the Name, Bulls on Parade)
      – Guns N Roses (Welcome to the Jungle)
      – Kansas (Carry on Wayward Son)
      – Pearl Jam (Even Flow)
      – Incubus (Stellar)

    • Kansas, Rage, Nirvana, Weezer, Blink, and Green Day…I’m with you. C’mon already with the Nirvana. They are teasing us again now only with “Breed”.

The teasing of Offspring is now pseudo-official too.

    • All 3 Disturbed songs are really good. Indestructable is really fun to play on guitar and I was able to make it through on expert the first time. Perfect Insanity however is another story. The guitar solo is rediculously hard. I can get to that part on expert without a problem, but always get shut down about 2/3 of the way through it. I haven’t had a chance to play the other one, Inside the Fire, yet. I’ll keep you posted. I didn’t see the Avenged Sevenfold songs the other night, so I assume they are brand spanking new. I will have to download them and give em a shot.

    • I downloaded the Disturbed pack last night, but haven’t had a chance to listen/play any of them yet. Going to try to get to them tonight.

Afterlife by Avenged is a good song. Played it on guitar medium this morning (yes, I’m a wimp on guitar) and the solo is hard. Drums hard is very fun to play.
